My artistic practice revolves around my experiences of living with diabetes and weaving ideas from imagination, living organisms, and memory into my paintings. I am drawn to the action of repetition in line work and layering, and am fascinated by how, in depicting the internal human body, my paintings end up looking playfully abstract.

My process begins with messy sketches drawn with watercolor pencils. Then I map out a rough idea of shapes and forms, drawing loose interpretations from my memory and the natural world. Once I start painting, I explore an intuitive process, repeating lines all over the canvas, covering up marks, and re-thinking the forms before adding more layers to the surface. I work with canvas and love the process of building stretcher frames. I love how each mark brings physical movement to the fibers, almost hinting that the canvas is alive. Within this process, I depict the internal mysteries of the human body in conversation with living organisms and natural landscapes. Across these themes, my paintings bring out a playful qualities.
